Ultimate Game Night

The year was 2022. It was cold. We were bored. Ultimate Game Night was invented. We never looked back.

Note: Ultimate Game Night is supposed to be fun… Parents, say “yes” to more than you usually would, and I promise it will get better. Also, remind everyone that it is for fun; this means that whoever picks the next game should not try to pick something they will only win every time.

The Rules

  • Ultimate Game Night starts with a Paper Rock Scissors tournament to figure out the first winner

  • There is a 20 min time limit from setup to break down of each game (pro tip, start a timer as soon as the previous game ends)

  • The person who chooses the game is responsible for set up and break down

  • Whoever wins the previous game selects the next game (the winner of the Paper Rock Scissors tournament selects the first game)

  • Every participant must be able to play at the same time (for at least part of the game)

  • Each game can only be played once (including variations)

  • There has to be a clear winner of the game (example: “who drew the best bird” cannot be played)

  • The overall winner is whoever wins the most games in a given time (Two hours seems to be the sweet spot for us, but choose whatever overall time limit is best for your family)

What are some sample games that can be played?

  • Uno

  • Kings in the Corner

  • “How long can you hang from the ____? “ (The last one to drop wins)

  • Who can eat the strawberries the fastest without their hands (please don’t choke)

  • Super Smash Brothers

  • Dominos

  • Musical Chairs

  • A race around the block

  • Crazy 8’s

  • “Who can hit the ball closest to the ___”

  • Basketball free throw challenge

  • Who can roll the highest number on a dice

  • Who can create the paper plane that flies the furthest

  • Who can be the last person to laugh (without touching anyone)

  • Create your own! Half of the fun is being creative with what games are played!
